We are now home from spending some time in Normal, IL, where my sister lives. Jordan and I had a nice date night while Jolene babysat, then this morning (after a lot of lounging laziness) we visited a few shops in Bloomington before coming home.

Right now both of my men are sleeping, taking much-needed long naps. I feel like I slept okay away from home, but Jordan seemed to be up all night, probably just habit from working nights.

Tryson tossed and turned what seemed like all night, but each time it was a quick fix since he sleeps next to me – if he rolls over and whines, I just have him nurse until he falls back into sleep. He has been very restless during the night for the past couple of weeks. Judging by this incredibly long (and sound) nap he is taking right now, I wonder if he has his days & nights mixed up a bit? I know that happens to newborns, but could it be possible for a 9 month old? Hmm I may have to start shortening his afternoon nap.

Until next time,

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day! We went out as a family to the city to eat a delicious dinner and do some shopping.

I had a red lace dress picked out to wear, but I changed it up last minute to let the father/son matching red pants have the spotlight!

Jordan has been battling a kidney stone the past few days, and I’m currently having a bad bout of allergies (which is minuscule in comparison to a kidney stone). We’ve been taking lots of appropriate meds to help us function. We’re pushing through but it hasn’t been fun or comfortable.

Here’s to a exceptional weekend,

Saturday was interesting… The dreaded Growth Spurt kept us up until 2am, with Tryson waking bright & early Saturday morning as usual. In the morning we rushed out the door to make it to a birthday party. From there, we rushed home so we all could nap before Jordan headed into work and Tryson & I headed to a family gathering for the evening.

We snapped some quick pics, but Tryson was more interested in catching up on sleep.

Tryson was passed from family member to family member at both events. He had handfuls of bread from my sandwich at the birthday party, then he had bananas, grapes and broccoli at the evening gathering. He soon got tired & cranky at both places (see: we were up until 2am the night before) and didn’t even want anyone else to look at him as he was snuggled in my arms.

I’m thinking Tryson didn’t like hopping from place to place, and I think he liked all the unusual faces even less. It was nice for both sides of the family to finally see him again, as they haven’t seem him since Christmas. He has grown a lot in the past two months! He’s also grown to be weary of strangers in that time period. Overall, it was fun to be out of the house & see people we love!

The power went out last night while we were sleeping, in -13 degree weather! We have huge windows in the living/dining room, so it quickly got chilly indoors. Thankfully Jordan wasn’t working last night, because I’m a big baby & hate the dark. He helped me fumble in the dark for our candles, then we all snuggled under the covers until it came on around 6am. We left our cold apartment later in the morning to try out a new place to eat & to do a little shopping! Hopefully the heaters will warm things up while we’re gone.

More snow tomorrow!
Stay warm,
